SIDEMOUNT DIVER SPECIALTY

Try on a more flexible & independent double-tank diving configuration.

SIDEMOUNT DIVER SPECIALTY

Try a more independent & flexible double-tank diving configuration and get certified as a Sidemount diver. The Sidemount specialty is aimed at divers seeking a more independent and comfortable diving configuration. Designed to allow for attachment and detachment underwater, it is the ideal setup for diving in confined spaces (such as wrecks, caves, and environments with restricted passage). Its ergonomic design allows each cylinder to be transported separately on land and mounted in the water; furthermore, it provides a direct visual reference for the valves and regulators of each cylinder, making it easier to detect potential leaks and handle the equipment comfortably.

Guided by a NACD Full Cave Instructor, you’ll immerse on a 2 days (4 dives) specialty course of sidemount technical diving:

  • Day one: Sidemount configuration set up, posture, kicking & safety drills: Learn to set up properly your new sidemount double-tank diving configuration. Position your harnesses, D rings, wing, cylinders & rigs and all the extra equipment needed to ensure safety protocols. Get into the water and practice in open water area your buoyancy, trim and new propulsion techniques (frog kick, helicopter kick, reverse kick). Revise air-management control by checking symmetric pressure on both tanks and alternating regulators. Execute out of air emergency drills and operate tank valves properly.
  • Day two: execute two successful cavern dives as a sidemount diver: Once your diving posture, kicking and emergency safety drills have been perfected you’ll start leading your way into the cavern areas as a technical sidemount diver. Perform two successful cavern dives in one of the most amazing cenotes in the mayan riviera and complete your training.

Advanced Open Water diver certification is mandatory: we reserve the right of admission after reviewing your diving history and profile.

*This specialty course covers only sidemount configuration and diving. To further progress on your technical diving check our next level courses: Cavern diver, Intro to Cave & Full Cave diver.
