NACD Cavern Diver

Start your diving & exploration journey into the cenotes as a technical diver.

NACD Cavern Diver

Get technical & start exploring the cenotes on a double-tank diving configuration. Start your technical course as a NACD (National Association for Cave Diving)  cavern diver. Dive into the surrounding areas of the unique cenotes while learning all about your new diving configuration, posture, kicking, lights and equipment, reel manipulation and safety drills.

Guided by a NACD Full Cave Instructor, you’ll immerse on a 3 days (5 dives) course of technical diving and exploration with a new double-tank diving configuration:

  • Day one: Double-tank configuration set up, posture, kicking & safety drills: Learn to set up properly your double-tank diving configuration, lights, reels, diving markers and all the extra equipment needed to ensure safety protocols. Get into the water and practice in open water area your buoyancy, trim and new propulsion techniques (frog kick, helicopter kick, reverse kick). Revise air-management, dive planning and safety drills.
  • Day two: Reel manipulation, establish a dive-line, diver markers & out of air emergency protocols: Once your diving posture, kicking and safety drills have been perfected  you’ll start leading your way into the cavern areas by learning how to create a continuous dive-line with your diving reel from the open water area into the dark passages of the cenotes. Learn about diver markers and directional markers to properly recognize your position at any moment inside the underground system. Practice out of air emergency protocols and be ready to act on any emergency scenario in a light-restricted environment and exit safely from it.
  • Day three: put all your knowledge to work and perform a full cavern dive as a diving team leader: the time has come for you to lead a dive inside the cavern system by planning the dive, ensuring equipment standards are met, safety drills are executed and leading the group by creating a continuous and safe dive-line with your reel in & out the caverns.

Advanced Open Water diver certification is mandatory: we reserve the right of admission after reviewing your diving history and profile.
